Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation was inspired by the acclaimed film Mr. Holland's Opus, the story of the profound effect a dedicated music teacher had on generations of students. The film's composer, Michael Kamen, founded MHOF in '96 as his commitment to the future of music education. MHOF donates both new and refurbished instruments to school and after-school music programs. An infusion of instruments enables more students to participate and to experience a quality music education.

All Congregations Together (ACT) began in Aug. '96. Recognizing the powerful role of the faith community in our society, ACT along with San Diego Health & Human Services Agency began exploring how the faith community and Health and Human Services could work together to: develop a better understanding of each other, create increased awareness and understanding of those among us who were in need, identify how to meet the needs of the neighborhoods and develop and implement support services for those in need. We all have one common goal, and that is to develop and implement projects that help encourage community members to reach their fullest potential.
